Summary

As Abraham dwells in the plain of Mamre, three holy men appear to him and Abraham finds favor in their sight when he feeds them and gives them a place to rest. One of the three men tells Abraham that Sarah, in her old age, will bear a son. Sarah hears this from within the tent and laughs to herself. The Lord knows that Abraham will teach his posterity to be just and good. Abraham pleads with God for the righteous few in Sodom, and the Lord assures him that if only a few righteous can be found, he will not destroy the city for their sake.
