Abraham, Servant of
Bible References
His name is not specified, but he is possibly the same person as Eliezer of Damascus (see Eliezer). He covenants with Abraham to find a wife for Isaac from among Abraham’s homeland and travels to the city of Nahor. At the well outside the city, he prays to the Lord and immediately is met by Rebekah, who offers to fetch him and his camels water. He follows Rebekah home, where he offers gifts to Bethuel and his family, and Rebekah decides to marry Isaac. The servant returns with Rebekah and introduces her to Isaac (Genesis 24:2-59, 61, 65-66).
